Shining a Light on Candle Safety: The Hidden Dangers of Traditional Candles

Greetings, candle lovers from Cookeville, Tennessee, and beyond! As proud owners of Mountain Top Candle Shop, we are passionate not only about crafting beautiful candles, but also about promoting safety, health, and sustainability.

Today, we're tackling a topic that's too often left in the dark: the potential hazards of traditional candles made with fragrance oils and paraffin wax.

Unmasking the Truth: Fragrance Oils & Paraffin Wax in Traditional Candles

Fragrance oils, often used to scent candles, can contain phthalates—chemical compounds that, when regularly inhaled, may disrupt hormones and potentially lead to health issues.

Then there's paraffin wax, a common ingredient in many candles. Derived from petroleum, paraffin wax can release carcinogenic soot when burned, which may contribute to respiratory problems and pollute your indoor air with toxins.

The Breath of Fresh Air: Essential Oil and Soy-Coconut Wax Candles

But don't worry, it's not all doom and gloom. There's a healthier, safer alternative out there—our all-natural, non-toxic candles. Here's why they're a breath of fresh air:

Essential Oils:

Instead of synthetic fragrance oils, we use only pure, natural essential oils to scent our candles. Not only do they smell fantastic, but they also come with the added bonus of offering aromatherapy benefits.

Soy-Coconut Wax: We say no to paraffin and yes to a blend of soy and coconut wax. This natural alternative burns cleaner and slower than paraffin, reducing the risk of soot. Plus, it's a renewable, biodegradable resource!

Wooden Wicks: We chose wooden wicks for our candles because they're a safer, all-natural alternative to the metal cores often found in traditional candle wicks.

Here at Mountain Top Candle Shop in the heart of Middle Tennessee, we're committed to crafting candles that you can feel good about. When you light one of our candles, you're not only creating a cozy atmosphere; you're also promoting a healthier home and supporting a greener planet.

Thank you for being part of our journey towards a brighter, healthier, more sustainable future. From our Mountain Top family to yours, stay safe and let your light shine!
